What's included in a guided trip?
+
Every trip includes the boat, all fishing rods, reels, terminal tackle, and bait you'll need for the day, along with my guiding expertise to put you on fish. Just bring yourself, weather-appropriate clothing, food, drinks, and your fishing license.
Do I need a fishing license?
+
Yes, all anglers are required to have a valid Washington State fishing license along with any applicable catch record cards (for salmon/steelhead). Licenses can be purchased online through the
Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) or at most local sporting goods stores. Let me know if you need help figuring out exactly what you need.
How many people can come on a trip?
+
Most trips comfortably accommodate up to 2-3 anglers per boat to make sure everyone gets plenty of casts and personal attention. If you have a larger group, reach out and I'll do my best to accommodate.
What happens if the weather is bad or the river is blown out?
+
Your safety and the quality of your trip come first. If conditions are unsafe or river flows are too high/dirty to fish effectively, I'll reach out as early as possible to reschedule your trip for another date at no extra cost, or issue a full refund if rescheduling doesn't work for your schedule.
How do deposits and payments work?
+
A $100 deposit is required to lock in your spot, with the remainder due on the day of the trip.
While we understand things happen out of our control, this is my full-time job and how I support myself and my family. When you commit to a date, you're taking that date away from other anglers — which is why payments and deposits are final.
- Deposits are non-refundable if you're unable to make a trip you've committed to. However, I'll always make every effort to reschedule your trip, and your previous deposit will be applied to the new date.
- If I have to reschedule due to weather or a fishery closure, your deposit will be refunded or applied to your rescheduled trip.
What is your cancellation policy?
+
Peak season dates fill up quickly, so I ask for as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Please contact me directly and I'll work with you on rebooking — give me a call at (360) 580-6869 or send a message through the
booking form.
Cancellations made 72 hours or less before the scheduled trip, or no-shows, are subject to full trip payment along with forfeit of your deposit.
What forms of payment do you accept?
+
I accept the following forms of payment:
- Cash
- PayPal
- Venmo
- Credit Card (processed via Square)
Please note that payments made via Square are subject to a 5% processing fee of your total trip amount.
What should I bring on the trip?
+
Below is a brief checklist of items to bring on your trip:
- Waders or bibs — please let me know beforehand if you have neither
- Rain jacket
- Fishing license
- Drinks/lunch
- Payment
Keep in mind these trips take place in a wet environment, and the drift boat has limited dry storage — I highly recommend waterproof bags for your belongings. Accommodations can typically be made for non-waterproof bags, just let me know ahead of time.
Do I get to keep the fish I catch?
+
It depends on the species, season, and current WDFW regulations — some fisheries are catch-and-release only (especially wild steelhead). I'll always let you know what's keepable on the day of your trip and can help with cleaning and bagging any legal harvest.
What time do trips start and end?
+
Most full-day trips run around 8 hours and start early in the morning to take advantage of the best bite, while half-day trips run about 5 hours. Exact meeting times and locations are confirmed once your trip is booked, since they can shift slightly based on season and river conditions.
How experienced do I need to be?
+
Not experienced at all! Trips are tailored for everyone from complete first-timers to seasoned anglers. I'll teach you everything you need to know along the way, or simply guide you to fish if you're already comfortable on the water.
